diagnosed with gallbladder infection until a rib fracture is found

What happened last week there is no post in spite of the festival and me dutifully preparing for it with lots of photos of the diya all around the home.

Mom and I were very busy with purchasing, decorating diya and preparing special snack for the evening. So I quickly finished my lunch with sambar rice. Something I eat on most days. At last the evening came every thing went well, as expected. Am happy that this time nothing went wrong, didn’t missed anything from purchase, finished the work in time, no hurry burry in lighting lamps at the auspicious time. This was unusually fine. A moment of self-appreciation, feel so proud.

My camera was recording the beautiful sight to keep in memory forever, or till next year.  Mom offered the sweet she made. “Try this, turned out well this time.” I looked at the nicely puffed rice with perfect jaggery coating.  Felt drooling, suddenly image of the weighing machine came before my eyes. “No mom not now, not until I reduce a bit. Already my knees are aching not able to bear my weight.”  “You aren’t that chummy, that to avoid my sweet of festival. Closed my eyes “Don’t get tempted Don’t get tempted Don’t get tempted” murmuring like a chanting.

“Can I upload these now or weight till morning so I could so some editing to it.”, in mind voice.  Felt a kind of uneasiness. “Mom, am going to bed”. Mom, “So soon and you really don’t want the sweet”. “Yeah”, me.   Mom, “Can’t believe that the cat has hated meat.” Thinking in mind, “Today the cat is not doing good.” Went to bed.

Woke up in the middle of the night with the same uneasiness, but more intensely. My stomach aches I believe. It was 3 am and I was awake for almost half an hour. Went to the rest room to wash my face, thought I could feel better. Once in, started throwing up. OMG what’s up? I could see everyone is sleeping. So quietly returned to bed. No I was not normal, It was half past five and I have throw up few times. So called mom but said I am not worst  and can wait till morning.

By six the serious continued again. No other go moved to a hospital. Someone who is quite popular in the area. A nurse came enquired what was wrong, checked BP, temperature etc., and moved in. In a minute she calls me inside Intensive care Unit. What!!!! I was confused. A year back I came to this emergency area for some other problem. That time I felt very sick,  but I met the doctor in the out patient room. I remember the day well. A granny too came that day at a serious condition but there was no bed to admit her. Her family was talking to the doctor for  a long time to convince him. And he was directing them to another hospital as they have no bed.  By the time this is over I feel like fainting.

Now I am doing good. We came here because at this time your consultant will not be available and could only meet the duty doctor here. The nurse took me to the only bed over there. “Please lie down on the bed”, said the sister. “Thanks I could very well sit”, Me. Doctor came in enquired with common question and moved out swiftly.

The doctor came back and said, “You have a gallbladder infection. So need to go for a scan.” “Scanning I wasn’t that sick, I am, am OK”. Doctor again,  “I just said we are going to check not confirmed it. If the scan is normal you could very well go. As of now we will give you an injection for subsiding”.  “Ahhh, another day I hospital, I hate it”. I was blinking, sitting in the bed in a place where most sick people lay half consciously. I didn’t fit the picture, I thought.

A man in green and blue color shirt came in with lots of papers, X-rays and scans and was talking with the doctor. I could hear them well. “There is a rib fracture, will be alright with good care. ” The man in green  blue, “Shall I bring her in”. Doctor, “Yes immediately …”

The nurse came in and said, “feeling better, now you could go out and try have some water. If you could sustain you can go home.”  With a bright smile I came running out. Like a bird from the cage. Thank God they find a better prey. Told dad “I can go home”. Dad, “They asked for a scan. I don’t want any risk in your health.” Me, “Ho they really asked me to leave.” Bushed my dad out.

By the way the only problem with my tummy is, it is like a kid. I refused it the nice crispy snack my mom made and it got upset.  What to do, can never leave a delicious food. I gave my tummy enough good item it will be OK. So I got recovered in my own way. Strange my 😉

Do You Know the First Eye Donator

Some of you may or even may not have heard of this man, who donated his eyes. He was the first known eye donator. Today let’s see what happens in his life.

Centuries back, in the middle of the deep forest on the southern part of India, there was an old Siva temple. It was very old and even deserted. The temple priest does not have the heart to desert it as other. So he travelled all along crossing all dangers to complete his pujas for the God.

One day a man called Tannar saw this and was attracted to the God.  Tannar was well trained in the tribal arts such as archery and herbal medicine.  But, he was completely not aware of the vedas and puranas. He also did not know about prayer and the ritual associate to it. Nor was it required for him so far. He got near the priest and asked him, “Ho, please tell me who he is and What do you do to make him happy?”  The scared priest ran away to save his life believing that he could be a man-eater.

This least moved Tannar. He has developed a deeper love for the God and he cannot leave him. He wanted to show his love, please Him and get His love back. He started imitating the priest. He washed the Linga with the water he carried in his mouth, decorated the Linga with wild flower that are not meant for prayers and presented the wild boar meat for the prasada. This continued for five long days.

The priest was shocked to see the wild flowers and meat in the temple everyday. He did clean it but was not able to bear it. He prayed, “Ho almighty, should I see this everyday. Do I travel across all dangers to witness the offense to you? Please help me to put an end to it.” God replied to him, “Dear, Do not feel despair. Hide yourself behind the pillar. Something special awaits you today.” The priest did as said.

Tannar entered the temple as usual with his meat and wild flower, washer the Linga by spitting the water. The priest heart was broken, but he fears to come out. As Tannar was decorating the Linga, he saw blood whooshing out of one of the Linga’s eyes. He wiped it and even tried few herbal to stop the bleeding. But, nothing helped.  He suddenly did something the entire world does not expect. He pierced his eye and gave it to the Lord. Tannar was happy to see the bleeding stopped but not for long.  The other eye started bleeding now. He was ready to give his other eye too, but was puzzled how to placed it properly. So he placed his toe on the Linga to mark the spot to place his eye and tried to get his other eye.

Lord Siva stopped him and said, “This is a test to show his pure love to the entire world.” He asked the priest, “How would I not accept anything from a man with such love. What you give is immaterial to me, but I only see you at your heart.” The priest apologized.  Tannar was taken to Kailash (Heaven for Saivas). He was referred by the name Kannapar (Kan – Eye, Appar- one who applied).

Kannappar

We all have the desire to attain Kailash to enjoy the eternal Bliss. But how is the question. We may not have the courage to pierce our eye and give it to the God. But, in his path we all could give it to humans, who are waiting to see the light.  The service to the creation is always the service to the creator. When you pledge your eyes, you are bringing light to two persons.

This is a most do action for Indian, because visual impairment is more in India and China.  There are various reasons for visual impairment, and transplantation could help only people with defected cornea. Still, helping this few is in your hands. It does not matter if you are wearing a spectacle with a high power. It makes difference only in the eye lens and not in the cornea to be transmitted.

Believe you would pledge your eyes this week. Happy week ahead. 🙂
